Proposal:
Both of Our Names are Janine draws from my experiences as shut-in to create a humorous 2D animated film about a college graduate who never leaves her apartment, and the two little pilots controlling her actions.

Both a darkly comedic prediction of my future and introspective send-off to my past, my aim is to create a story that resonates with people in similar situations without being a total bummer about it.
Logline:
A persnickety pilot and her apathetic co-pilot will only steer their ship, which takes the form of a shut-in named Janine, for the payment of cigarettes.

THESIS STATEMENT:

One cannot rely on instant gratification to achieve genuine long-term
satisfaction.

The S.S. Janine's uncanny face was inspired by Larval Masks, which are simple, abstract faces that are used to teach theater actors how to pantomime various personas. I opted to give the vessel a dreary, empty, and droopy expression.

The Janines inside the brain are inspired by a cartoon modern style, with inspiration also derived from the samples above.
I wanted them to appear hastily depicted and almost incorporeal,
with their bodies able to do extraordinary and cartoonish things.

The environment of the S.S. Janine interior is largely based off a typical 1950's work environment, to contribute to the themes of instant gratification and strangling work environments.
